Antequera is a tranquil historic town situated at the crossroads of Granada and Malaga, far from the hustle and bustle of the tourist area of the Costa del Sol.

Its rich historic patrimony, starting with the prehistoric dolmens and continuing up to the enormous quantity of baroque churches, makes it a real jewel amongst Andalusian cities. Its principal monuments are the Arabian fortress, the tower “Torre de Papabellota” and the “Arch of the Giant”. The town museum exhibits the famous bronze “Efebo”, considered Spain’s most beautiful Roman statue. Only 13 kilometres from the town centre, “The Torcal” offers the visitor one of the most impressive phenomenons of limestone erosion world wide. The most popular and spectacular festivity of Antequera’s calender is the Easter week.
The most famous representatives of Antequeras’ gastronomy are the “Porra Antequerana” (tomato mousse with tuna fish and vegetables) and the “Mollete” (certain type of rolls).
